To use 1D-Random-Walk, you will have to install NetLogo 5.3.1 (free and open source) and download the model itself. Unzip the downloaded file and click on 1D-Random-Walk.nlogo
Pressing the button labelled Create Walker allows the user to create one single random walker, by clicking with the mouse on one of the patches labelled with a red integer. Clicking on go once will make the random walker move once, while go asks the random walker to move indefinitely. The plot beneath the patches shows the time series of the random walker's position. Patches are coloured in shades of blue according to the number of times that the random walker has visited them: the higher the number of visits, the darker the shade of blue.
1D-Random-Walk is an agent-based model designed to illustrate the usefulness of the theory of Markov chains to analyse computer models.
